148TH SEASON OF THE NATIONAL THEATRE IN BELGRADE WAS OPENED WITH PERFORMANCE OF THE PATRIOTS BY STERIJA, WITHIN 50TH BITEF FESTIVAL, ON 1ST OCTOBER

The 148th season of the National Theatre in Belgrade was opened with performance of The Patriots, written by Jovan Sterija Popović and stage directed by Andraš Urban. The performance was given within the Main Programme of 50th Bitef Festival on the Main Stage, 1st October.
The cast: Slobodan Beštić (Žutilov), Anastasia Mandić (Nančika), Suzana Lukić (Milčika), Pavle Jerinić (Šandor Lepršić), Nela Mihailović (Mrs. Zelenić), Hadži Nenad Maričić (Šerbulić), Nikola Vujović (Smrdić), Predrag Ejdus (Gavrilović), Branko Jerinić (Nagy Pal) and Bojan Krivokapić (Eden).
Musicians Nemanja Aćimović (drums), Ivan Marković (accordion) and Đorđe Antić (trombone) also take part in the performance.
Slavko Milanović and Suzana Vuković are dramaturges (Suzana Vuković is also an associate to the stage director), Irena Popović Dragović is a composer and Marina Sremac is a costume designer in the production.
The Patriots premiered on 30th October last year. Since its opening, the production won numerous awards. During the summer, the production won three Sterija’s Awards and the Round Table Award by the critics in Novi Sad; on the “Days of Satire” Festival in Zagreb, the production received a recognition for dedication to acting; the production was proclaimed the best performance in the “Theatrical Spring” Festival in Šabac. The ensemble toured the MITEM Festival in Budapest, the “Dezire” Festival in Subotica and won at the “Days of Comedy” Festival in Jagodina, etc.
The jubilee 50th Bitef Festival will take place in period between 24th September and 2nd October, under the slogan “On the back of a raging bull”. Twelve performances will be given within the Main Programme of the Festival.
