Last weekend, conductor Dejan Savić toured Timisoara upon the invitation of the Romanian National Opera House from Timisoara.
Due to illness of a colleague from this renowned opera house, one of four national opera houses in Romania (Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi and Timisoara), the maestro stood-in and, together with soloists, ballet, choir and orchestra, performed Verdi’s opera Rigoletto.
Audience and artists of the Timisoara Opera House accepted the performance of maestro Savić with appreciation and gratitude. They are familiar with maestro Savić and his work since he has toured the city on several different occasions so far.
Outstanding soloists from several opera houses, out of fifteen Romanian opera houses, under the baton of Serbian conductor gave their maximum and, together with excellent orchestra and choir, gave their full contribution to the success of the performance.
The National Theatre from Belgrade and the Romanian National Opera House from Timisoara have maintained close partnership for decades and exchanged tours of their opera and ballet soloists, conductors and choreographers, as well as décor and costumes.
The two theatres have intensified cooperation this year; the plan is to tour the other theatre respectively with a full production; therefore, the National Theatre’s Opera will tour Timisoara Opera House with Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman within the Opera Festival on 2nd November, while the Romanian colleagues will tour Belgrade with a new production of Puccini’s last opera Turandot.
