The National Theatre in Belgrade Receives the Sretenje Order of First Degree

On the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia, Serbian President, Aleksandar Vučić, awarded recognitions to deserving individuals and institutions, amongst which is the National Theatre in Belgrade.

At the formal event held in the General Secretariat of the President of the Republic, Mr. Dejan Savić, Manager of the National Theatre, was presented with the prestigious recognition on behalf of the Theatre. 

The Sretenje Order is an order of the Republic of Serbia, established by the Law on Decorations of the Republic of Serbia adopted on 26th October 2009. 

The Order is awarded by a decree of the President of the Republic of Serbia for special merits for the Republic of Serbia and its citizens in public, economic, cultural, educational, sport and humanitarian spheres of life.

Author of the conceptual design of the Sretenje Order, which has three degrees, is an academic sculptor Nikola Vukosavljević, a Professor of sculpturing at the Academy of Arts in Belgrade.

Recognitions were also awarded to the University in Belgrade (Order of the Karađorđe’s Star of First Degree), Ensemble of National Dance and Song of Serbia “Kolo” (Order of the Karađorđe’s Star of Second Degree), Museum of Vojvodina in Novi Sad (Sretenje Order of Second Degree), PhD Milan Stevović (Order of Merits in Defence and Security of Third Degree), Svetomir Arsić Basara (Golden Medal for Merits), etc.
