The Pelican

“The Pelican” by August Strindberg, adapted and directed by Đurđa Tešić

The first reading rehearsal of “The Pelican” by August Strindberg, adapted and directed by Đurđa Tešić, was held on December 24 at the third gallery foyer. 

The play is scheduled to premiere at the end of February on “Raša Plaović” Stage with the following cast members: Dušanka Stojanović Glid (Elise, a widowed mother), Nedim Nezirović (Fredrik, her son, a law student), Iva Milanović (Gerda, her daughter), Vučić Perović (Axel, her son-in-law, married to Gerda) and Vanja Ejdus (Margret, the maid).

Đorđe Kosić is the dramaturge, set and costume designer is Zorana Petrov, music is composed by Vladimir Pejković, Ljiljana Mrkić Popović is the stage speech instructor, Damjan Kecojević is in charge of the stage movement and Jelena Mitrović does video work.

The team of collaborators also includes Olivera Živković (executive producer), Miloš Golubović (producer in Drama), Miloš Obrenović (stage manager), Danica Stevanović (prompter) and Jasna Saramandić (assistant set designer and costume designer).

"The Pelican", a play written by the famous Swedish writer, playwright and poet August Strindberg in 1907, has never been performed before at the National Theatre in Belgrade.

The acting General Manager of the National Theatre, Svetislav Goncić, and the Drama Manager, Molina Udovički, wished the creative and collaborative team success at the beginning of their work on a new play.
