Workshop "To play“ – Monica Nappo (Italy) 4th& 5th March 2022, 10.00 – 15.00

22 February 2022

In both cinema and theater, the thing that remains most impressive is the credibility of an actor. I believe that being real means knowing and accepting oneself. Being vulnerable as a strength. Through this process, you can then get to know the other, and the character, without judgment. The workshop will seek precisely this - to know each other, in the group, not only through exercises, but also through the sharing of some scenes and the analysis of the emotions that guide us in our work.

MONICA NAPPO is an italian actress, director and playwright. She is the first woman to win a national competition for stand up comedians, writing and directing her own pieces. In the theater she worked with Mario Martone, Carlo Cecchi, Cesare Lievi and for 10 years with Toni Servillo.

In addition to her work as a performer (she was the first in Italy to stage "4:48 Psychosis" by Sarah Kane, "East Coast" by Tony Kushner and "After the end" by Dennis Kelly) she has vast experience as a director, preferring contemporary theater texts. At the moment she is touring Italy with great success with her new play „The Experiment“ in which she also perrforms.

In cinema she worked with many directors, including Paolo Sorrentino, Silvio Soldini, Matteo Garrone, Peter Greenaway, Ferzan Ozpetek, Ivan Cotroneo, Ridley Scott. In Woody Allen's "To Rome with love" she plays with Roberto Benigni.

Monica has led numerous masterclasses and workshops for actors and directors, including those in the National School of Cinema in Rome, Teatro Due in Parma and Academy Paolo Grassi in Milan.
